Sights, sounds and smells in Amsterdam.

Another early start and quick breakfast before heading off for the Amsterdam canal cruise. We spent a happy hour learning something of the city's history, seeing the world's biggest floating Chinese restaurant and waving merrily at all the other tourists before heading for lunch at the legendary, historic Pancake Bakery (est. 1973!).

The service was a little chaotic but eventually everyone received their pancakes, topped with various interesting combinations of: Nutella, banana, syrup, apple, chorizo, cheese, bacon, whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Back on the coach and we were off to A Z Alkmaar for a tour of the stadium. We enjoyed looking around and gathered many ideas for Edgeborough's new changing rooms and players' lounge. Then it was time to head off to our new, favourite restaurant chain, 'La Place', for an early supper.

With great anticipation, we then made our way to our second football fixture, against F C Aalsmeer, where the boys were taught a trick or two by a stronger, faster opposition. Both teams battled bravely on but were outclassed, to differing degrees.

Back on the coach once again as we returned to the hostel to pack up in readiness for our move to Belgium in the morning. For some reason, the process of putting clothes in a bag proved a significant challenge for many members of the group (boys!) and there is still quite a clean up and some serious fumigation to be done in the morning.

Belgium here we come!

One swan attack.

Two pupils asking what would be on the menu at the Pancake Bakery.

Seven lost socks.
